In May 2025, the Association for Plastic Recyclers (APR) launched Recycling In Action, a nation-wide recycling open-house program to give stakeholders and consumers a first-hand look at recycling in action with the goal of increasing confidence and participation in plastic recycling. After seeing many headlines that claimed recycling didn’t work, which led to confusion, skepticism, and declining participation rates in recycling, APR wanted people to see with their own eyes that recycling is, in fact, happening in their communities. Seeing is believing!

Recycling In Action is back this May, and APR wants to expand to include more tours across the US & Canada. Here’s why this works:

• Showing your local community how recycling works will help increase participation AND quality of recyclables. 
• You can use this as an opportunity to invite policy makers and stakeholders into your facilities, which is important given upcoming EPR and content mandate laws.
• If you’re already planning on offering a recycling tour/tours in May, this should be turnkey! Just keep doing what you’re doing, and they’ll list you on our landing page.
