Foam Recycling Grants Are Now Open for 2026
Thanks to grant funding from the Foam Recycling Coalition (FRC), more communities across the United States and Canada are expanding access to foam packaging recycling—commonly known as Styrofoam.
The 2026 FRC grant application period opened on March 5, 2026, and runs through April 17, 2026, with grant recipients expected to be announced in late spring or early summer.
These grants help municipalities and recycling programs establish convenient drop-off locations where residents can recycle foam packaging materials that cannot be placed in curbside recycling bins.
Accepted items typically include:
- Foam meat trays
- Egg cartons
- Take-out food containers
- Plates and cups
- Protective packaging such as foam coolers
- Appliance packaging
- Large molded foam used to ship furniture, electronics, and household appliances.
Once collected, the foam is reduced, recycled, and turned into new products that support a circular economy.
Since 2017, Foam Cycle has helped 17 municipal and nonprofit recycling drop-off centers across the country secure more than $850,000 in foam recycling grant funding, helping launch successful foam recycling programs.
