During the 2023 legislative session, the Colorado General Assembly passed House Bill 23-1194, codified in Section 30-20-124 of the Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.), creating the Closed Landfill Remediation Grant Program within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The legislature created this grant program to provide funding to help pay the costs of environmental remediation and mitigation efforts for, and management of, closed landfills that are owned by eligible local governments to protect public health, safety, and welfare and the environment.

 
The Closed Landfill Remediation Grant Program Advisory Committee will hold a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. MST. Stakeholders and members of the public are welcome to attend this virtual meeting, and there will be time towards the end of the meeting for public input.
