Recycle Colorado is a member-driven, action-oriented nonprofit dedicated to advancing infrastructure, end markets, and state and local policies that support waste reduction, recovery, and diversion. Our work keeps valuable materials out of landfills and strengthens sustainable systems across Colorado. Our membership spans the entire recycling ecosystem, including manufacturers, waste haulers, recyclers, local governments, nonprofits, businesses, and individuals statewide. Position Overview

The Program Coordinator will support Recycle Colorado’s growing portfolio of programs, partnerships, and events while also working closely with the Colorado Composting Council (COCC). This position plays a key role in delivering statewide programming, engaging members and stakeholders, and advancing circular-economy initiatives.This position offers meaningful responsibility, visibility within the industry, and the potential to grow as the organization evolves.


This role is partially grant-funded and includes focused work to expand Colorado’s food waste reduction and organics diversion efforts. Grant-supported activities will run through June 30, 2026, with a short progress report required at the conclusion of the funding period.


What You’ll Do

Education & Outreach

  • Represent Recycle Colorado and the Colorado Composting Council at meetings, community events, coalitions, and conferences

  • Conduct outreach that raises awareness of programs, policies, and food waste reduction initiatives

  • Support communication of policy impacts, program outcomes, and member benefits

Program & Project Management

  • Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and resources for programs, events, and workshops

  • Implement grant-funded projects focused on wasted-food prevention, food rescue, and food scrap recycling

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand statewide programming

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, government agencies, and private-sector partners

  • Support collaboration across communications, development, and events functions

  • Facilitate member engagement and help gather input for policy and advocacy efforts

Data, Reporting & Evaluation

  • Maintain program documentation, tracking systems, and reporting tools

  • Prepare grant updates and contribute to the June 2026 progress report

Resource & Tool Development

  • Create educational materials, toolkits, and resources for members and communities

  • Support strategic planning related to food waste research, outreach, and market development

Funding & Resource Development

  • Assist with identifying and pursuing grant opportunities that strengthen circular-economy efforts

  • Support sponsorship development to sustain and grow programs beyond the grant period


Position Structure & Growth Opportunity

  • First 6 months: Structured training period focused on a grant-funded project advancing food waste reduction and organics diversion through research, outreach, strategic planning, and project coordination. This phase includes the opportunity to present project outcomes at the Summit for Recycling conference in June 2026.

  • Second half of the year: Expanded focus on broader Recycle Colorado initiatives, supporting advocacy, education, market development, and member engagement across the organization.

This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position beyond the initial six-month organics diversion project, depending on funding and organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience

  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic nonprofit environment

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a small team

  • Familiarity with Colorado’s recycling, composting, and waste reduction landscape is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • $30 per hour, 20–25 hours per week

  • Flexible schedule
